7 Steps To Make Money During Your Next Garage Sale

When was the last time you went through your house and collected everything you don’t want? Well if you can’t remember the last time, consider having a garage sale. They can be fun and at the same time make you money. The first thing you want to do is look at everything you own and ask yourself if you really NEED an item. If the answer is no, then you may want to consider selling it or throwing it out. Once you know what you are going to sell, it is time to organize the sale. Here are some tips on having a successful garage sale.

  1. Label everything with price tags
    1. This may seem like a tedious task, but it will help you during the sale when there are many people that may be asking you for the price. It is also helpful when there are multiple people running the sale. One thing to be aware of are dishonest people who may try to switch price tags if you are not looking.
  1. Try to lay everything out
    1. This is important because people may not want to dig into a huge bin with so called “junk.” The items will seem much more appealing if they are displayed nicely and they appear to be organized. There are exceptions to this such as having a large supply of books that you may want to store in boxes.
  1. Clean everything first
    1. Polish anything that needs to be polished. People will be more likely to buy if it looks like it is in good shape and they don’t have to do it themselves.
    2. Wash anything that needs to be. This may seem like common sense, but you would be surprised how many garage sales I have seen where people don’t seems to care that something has been sitting in their garage for 2 years and is covered in dust. These include everything such as tools, clothes, China, crystal, and even dustcovers for books.
  1. Bring an extension chord for electrical items
    1. This will save time and will many times help sell an electrical item. If a person has any doubts that an item works, they can test it for themselves. This also saves you the trouble of someone complaining afterwards that an item may not work.
  1. Have a tape measure
    1. This is a helpful tool if you have any type of furniture for sale. You will have a better chance of someone buying something if they know for sure that it will fit where they want it as opposed to just guessing.
  1. Place the best things in front
    1. Some people may disagree with this because it may suck someone in to find a bunch of junk. However, this will help bring people in. If you have something nice for sale, heck put it in the front (assuming it can’t be stolen easily). Many people will decide if they will stop by just by driving by. If it does not look like anything but junk, you have lost a potential sale.
  1. Have Bags and Boxes Ready
    1. This is not necessary, but helpful if someone buys multiple things or wants their items to be protected (ex. dishes or glasses). Having these ready will help save you time by not having to leave your sale to go inside. Another benefit is that these bags and boxes will be put to good use after laying around in your house for months.

The 3 Worst Foods in America to Avoid

Are you aware that millions of Americans eat some of the worst foods in the world? Some of these foods include fast food as well as many others. There are many websites on the internet that give you health information, but if you are looking for an easy guide to feeling better and having your best life, try to eliminate the following foods from your diet at all costs.

1. Donuts-these are loaded with sugar and are fried at extremely high temperatures. They also contain between 200 and 300 calories each!

2.Soda-one can of soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar! This is a very large amount. Diet sodas are even worse because they contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame. This sweetener is highly processed and can lead to other problems down the road. All of this sugar in soda can eventually lead to tooth decay and other health problems such as diabetes. This is one of the best things to cut out of your diet that can improve your health.

3.French Fries-Any type of fried food is heated at very high temperatures in a variety of vegetable oils. These oils can lead to clotting, inflammation, weight gain, and even cancer. Next time you go to a fast food restaurant, take notice of the deep fryer in the back. You will see just how these are made and perhaps you will change your mind.

2 Steps to Motivate Yourself to Achieve Your Dream

Sit down for a minute and think about what motivates you. If you have a job, ask yourself why. Is it because you want to make money or just because you want to do it for fun? The answer for most people is that they do it for the money so that they can support themselves and their family. There is nothing wrong with this, but it is important to realize why you do something. Think about your goals in life. You might have many ideas that are in your head that you have not done anything with. This could be your life dream to start your own business or it might be an invention you have had in mind for the past 10 years or it could be to step up in your business. There are many excuses that you can come up with that might lead you away from doing something.

There are two important steps in motivating yourself.

1. Do what you are passionate about. This is important because if you love what you do, it will not seem like work as much. This is different for everyone. You must be excited about what you are doing and want to do the very best you can. For example, if you can stay up until three in the morning and not even realize it, you are probably on the right track.

2. Have a reason. You must have a reason to why you want to succeed. It may simply be because you want to do it for yourself or it may be for the money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing it for financial freedom. If that is what motivates you, go right ahead and do so.
The final step is to start and just do it. If you really want to do something, think about what the end result and tell yourself you want to do it. It will probably require many hours of work over a period of time, but if you don’t do it, who will? So go ahead and write down the goal of yours and don’t put it off. Start today!
