When was the last time you went through your house and collected everything you don’t want? Well if you can’t remember the last time, consider having a garage sale. They can be fun and at the same time make you money. The first thing you want to do is look at everything you own and ask yourself if you really NEED an item. If the answer is no, then you may want to consider selling it or throwing it out. Once you know what you are going to sell, it is time to organize the sale. Here are some tips on having a successful garage sale.

Label everything with price tags

This may seem like a tedious task, but it will help you during the sale when there are many people that may be asking you for the price. It is also helpful when there are multiple people running the sale. One thing to be aware of are dishonest people who may try to switch price tags if you are not looking.

Try to lay everything out

This is important because people may not want to dig into a huge bin with so called “junk.” The items will seem much more appealing if they are displayed nicely and they appear to be organized. There are exceptions to this such as having a large supply of books that you may want to store in boxes.

Polish anything that needs to be polished. People will be more likely to buy if it looks like it is in good shape and they don’t have to do it themselves.

Wash anything that needs to be. This may seem like common sense, but you would be surprised how many garage sales I have seen where people don’t seems to care that something has been sitting in their garage for 2 years and is covered in dust. These include everything such as tools, clothes, China, crystal, and even dustcovers for books.

However, this will help bring people in. If you have something nice for sale, heck put it in the front (assuming it can’t be stolen easily). Many people will decide if they will stop by just by driving by. If it does not look like anything but junk, you have lost a potential sale.

Are you aware that millions of Americans eat some of the worst foods in the world? Some of these foods include fast food as well as many others. There are many websites on the internet that give you health information, but if you are looking for an easy guide to feeling better and having your best life, try to eliminate the following foods from your diet at all costs.

1. Donuts-these are loaded with sugar and are fried at extremely high temperatures. They also contain between 200 and 300 calories each!

2.Soda-one can of soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar! This is a very large amount. Diet sodas are even worse because they contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame. This sweetener is highly processed and can lead to other problems down the road. All of this sugar in soda can eventually lead to tooth decay and other health problems such as diabetes. This is one of the best things to cut out of your diet that can improve your health.

3.French Fries-Any type of fried food is heated at very high temperatures in a variety of vegetable oils. These oils can lead to clotting, inflammation, weight gain, and even cancer. Next time you go to a fast food restaurant, take notice of the deep fryer in the back. You will see just how these are made and perhaps you will change your mind.

Sit down for a minute and think about what motivates you. If you have a job, ask yourself why. Is it because you want to make money or just because you want to do it for fun? The answer for most people is that they do it for the money so that they can support themselves and their family. There is nothing wrong with this, but it is important to realize why you do something. Think about your goals in life. You might have many ideas that are in your head that you have not done anything with. This could be your life dream to start your own business or it might be an invention you have had in mind for the past 10 years or it could be to step up in your business. There are many excuses that you can come up with that might lead you away from doing something.

There are two important steps in motivating yourself.

1. Do what you are passionate about. This is important because if you love what you do, it will not seem like work as much. This is different for everyone. You must be excited about what you are doing and want to do the very best you can. For example, if you can stay up until three in the morning and not even realize it, you are probably on the right track.

2. Have a reason. You must have a reason to why you want to succeed. It may simply be because you want to do it for yourself or it may be for the money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing it for financial freedom. If that is what motivates you, go right ahead and do so.
The final step is to start and just do it. If you really want to do something, think about what the end result and tell yourself you want to do it. It will probably require many hours of work over a period of time, but if you don’t do it, who will? So go ahead and write down the goal of yours and don’t put it off. Start today!

Sit down for a minute and ask yourself how you balance your business and family life. Are you the type of person that is in the office from early in the morning all the way into the late evening? If this is the case, consider rebalancing your schedule. Of course there are busy times at work that this is necessary so I’m not saying to simply tell your boss no and get fired.

1. Take Vacations and Take Advantage of the Weekend
This is an important step to do regardless of what profession you are in. If you are working for yourself, be sure to schedule in the time for a vacation. Decide for yourself if you want to take several smaller vacations or if you want to take a larger vacation. Weekends are also an important time to relax and take a break so that you are able to start the next week off felling good.Take time for Yourself

2. Make a time for yourself to schedule “me” time.
This is a time that you can do whatever you want and just relax and not worry about anything else for the time. A good time for this is either in the morning before work or in the evening when you can relax for between 30-60 minutes. During this time eliminate all distractions such as cell phones and alarms. This step is essential and should be “scheduled” into your day so that you are sure to get around to it. Consider it to be as important as a meeting at work that you would only miss for an emergency.

3. Eat Dinner Together
Diner is an important bonding time with your children and/or spouse. If you are always getting home late and rarely eat together, start by doing this AT LEAST several times a week. This may not be possible everyday, but is something that should be done as much as possible.

We have all heard of stores like Costco, Sams, and BJ’s where you can practically buy a lifetime of anything in one purchase. As a matter of fact, you may be a member of one of these places. Shopping at clubs like these can save you a lot of time and money. Here are some products to buy to get the best bang for your buck!

1. Buy electronics-Many people do not realize that they can actually get a good deal on items that are not bought in bulk. These may include computers, MP3 players (including Ipods) and televisions. There are usually great deals on these items and you can just buy what you need.

2. Buy Towels and Toilet Paper-When was the last time you bought a single role of paper towels? Well, if your like me, I can’t remember. These types of items are HUGE money savers and can save you between $10-$30 a month if you buy in bulk. The best thing to do is buy these items and keep them stored in your cabinets, your garage, or any other place you can find room

3. Buy Fruit-Believe it or not, you can get very good deals on fruit at these places. You can get fresh cut-up fruit to apples and bananas. For example, bananas at these stores cost only a fraction of the cost than at regular stores. You can get several pounds of bananas for the price you would pay for under a pound at your local grocery store. This may not be much, but it all adds up.

4. Buy Cakes-When its time for the time of the year when you need a birthday cake, these stores have what you need. You can get a large cake for the same price as a much smaller cake at your local grocery store. Most of these places also offer personalization if you order a day or two in advance.

5. Buy Books-The price of books at these stores are much cheaper than at your bookstore usually. You can expect to same between 20%-40% on most books

6. Buy Bottled Water and Drinks-If you use a drink vending machine often, then consider buying drinks in bulk. These include: coke, energy drinks, bottled water, to the special Starbucks specialty drinks. Take bottled water for example. A vending machine may charge $1 for each bottle, when you could get it about .20 cents. That a markup of .80 cents. Imagine if you save .80 cents five days a week for a month, that’s $16 in a month and $192 a year. That a lot of money considering such a small change. The same applies for other beverages.

7. Buy Magazines-These can be expensive if you like to buy magazines individually in a store. But at these clubs, you can usually get between 20%-40% off the cover price.8. Buy Appliances-These stores offer a huge saving on a wide assortment of brand name appliances. These include microwaves, stoves, ovens, and just about anything that goes in your kitchen. Not all of them are on display in the stores, but can be ordered and delivered over their website at unbeatable prices.

9. Buy Vitamins-We all know we should take vitamins. These clubs offer discounts on these as well. You usually have to buy several hundred in a bottle, but at least they will last a while before you have to worry about going to the store to restock. Most offer brand names as well as their own brand as well.

These ideas are something for you to think about and decide for yourself. There are many other reasons to shop at these places. All of these clubs do charge a yearly member fee of around $50. This covers some of their costs and is worth it even if you only shop there several times a year. You may also want to consider what kind of account you want. There are business accounts that offer cash back options depending how much you buy. There are also simple personal accounts that just let you buy from them. I know some people who only go there twice a year and stock up on everything. Some people go there every week. It’s all up to you. Happy Shopping!
